Observation made by Richard Keen

Image Parameter Details
Comments: By 0600 UTC, or 8 minutes after impact, a 13th magnitude condensaton was seen at the center of the coma of P/Tempel 1. Over the next 40 minutes this condensation brightened to about 12th magnitude and expanded to perhaps 10 arc-seconds in size. By 0640 the comet was very low in the sky, and although the coma was no longer visible, the condensation was still apparent.
