Observation made by Mike Planchon

Image Parameter Details
Comments: Comet appeared 4X5' in size, est. visual mag by star defocus method 10.8, very slightly condensed toward center with no obvious tail, only vague impression of variation in brightness toward middle of coma, partly due to poor sky contrast. Surface brightness low and comet did not stand out well from background. Identity confirmed by location. NGC 4990 just out of field to north, smaller but better surface brightness.
